Job summary
Lead a team of highly skilled engineers working on GCC, g++, and binutils. The Red Hat Platform Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager to join our Platform Tools team. In this role, you will collaborate in a team with support from both management and senior technical leadership in the team. You'll contribute important tools and components for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), playing an active role in the open source tools community. As an Associate Manager, you?ll need to share our passion for pushing open source solutions into the mainstream by making high-quality, low-cost technology more accessible. The work location for this role is flexible, but ideally, it should be based in Westford, MA, Raleigh, NC, Toronto, Canada, Stuttgart, Germany, or Farnborough, U.K. Successful applicants must reside in a country or state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities
+ Interact daily with your developers in all aspects of people management
+ Support and coordinate technical leads in the development and tracking of clear and concise roadmaps
+ Coordinate technical leads to support their conclusion of architectural decisions and other key decisions
+ Interact with peer engineering teams within Red Hat to represent the team's deliveries to releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Developer Toolset, and Fedora
+ Coordinate with the internal quality engineering, documentation, and release management teams on project and resource planning
+ Represent the team at a high level in review meetings and in customer and partner discussions (some technical knowledge is needed)

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, internationally distributed environment and effectively use traditional and virtual communication channels
The following are considered a plus:
+ Experience with technical engineering management
+ Familiarity with open source software development
+ Experience with software project management
+ Experience working with teams distributed around the world
+ Experience with GCC or alternative compiler tools
+ Technical background in software development
+ The ability to understand technical requirements and communicate with others on a technical level
+ Solid presentation skills
+ Prior experience working remotely
+ Ability to quickly learn new technologies and develop your skills in your team's technical area
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
+ Experience with waterfall and agile software development and project management methodologies, tools, and defect tracking systems
+ Familiarity with Red Hat's solutions portfolio and open source software development

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
